We all walked to the school as a family and Regan and I didn't even cry when we said goodbye and sent our little dinosaur-backpacked dude on his way into the big, wide world. (We cried a little when I first bought the backpack because it was adorable, but yeah). It did pour rain though, and we were all soaked by the time we got to school. yay!
At this new stage of parenting there are things to look forward to (one less child home all day!) and things to be wary of (he comes back!) For example, I thought I would HATE making lunches. I was dreading it. Surprisingly though, I have quite a bit of fun putting his lunch together every evening (my life is not very exciting these days). I think it's because I found a bento-style container that keeps all the food together (but separate!), so there's no fussing with multiple containers and worrying about whether he can open things or not.
He doesn't always eat every bite, but usually he does pretty well and most of the lunch is consumed by the time he brings it home.
Life is still a bit of a drag without the ability to pack a classic PB&J, but the dinosaur-shaped sandwich cutter is a hit no matter what's inside.
