Emmett is externally expressing Regan's mostly internal feelings about Halloween.
I love Halloween (I think I've said that already).
I love decorating the house for Halloween.
I've always done this, even as a kid. My poor mom would always end up having to clean up the month-long craft project that I would turn the front yard in to in October.
This year I was super excited to have enough free time to create the giant spider web that I've been wanting to make for several years (ever since I saw one on another street in Barrie).
Regan dislikes (actually hates) Halloween and is a giant grump sometimes, but he doesn't protest when I decorate the house. And he didn't even whine this year about the strobe light. I left the batteries out of the welcome mat that screams when you step on it though, since the combination of doorbell, dog bark, baby cry every 15 minutes was enough to make him crazy.
I took some day time and night time photos, but it's difficult to get the full effect. I'm just happy that a few kids said "I really like your house." Excellent. That's what makes it all worth it on a street where we were one of only four houses with any kind of decoration. I don't know what's happened over the last several years, but people are too mean and lazy to put out a pumpkin, or at least some lights.
Thank Chirst for the guy around the corner who turned his whole huge garage into a haunted house and was accepting donations for the food bank for entry. We need more dudes like that, and more Halloween awesomeness.
