Parenting is hard.
I often get questions from parents of teens (because I teach high school) asking me what to do about this-and-that problem with their teenager. I try to give diplomatic and (I hope) helpful answers, but honestly I do not have teenagers so I can only really offer common sense advice, at best.
I think that now that I'm a parent I can give slightly better answers than I gave in my pre-parenting days, but I still usually defer to the "experts". Recently I came across a pretty great site with tons of articles about parenting and I printed some material to give to my neighbours (who are having a failure-to-launch problem with their adult grandchildren). http://www.empoweringparents.com/
I've bookmarked the site and I find most of what I've read so far pretty helpful and enjoyable to read. If you have kids, or you just want to see the ins and outs of exactly how your friends are doing it wrong, you can give it a quick look. Alternatively, if you have young children you can skim the article titles and get super terrified about what kind of behaviour is in store for you in a few years.
